Support Group Overview:

The primary objective of this six-week group is to help medical students successfully readjust to the academic, social, and emotional demands of medical school after an interruption. By participating in this group, students can gain insights, share experiences, and develop strategies for a smooth transition.

This therapy group is specifically tailored to address the 5 following areas:

  1. Cultural Transition: Moving to a new country can be exciting and overwhelming. We’ll explore your experiences adapting to Grenada’s culture, customs, and local way of life, helping you find your place within this vibrant community.
  2. Academic Pressures: Balancing the demands of medical school can be intense. Together, we’ll discuss effective study strategies, time management, and stress reduction techniques to help you excel academically without feeling overwhelmed.
  3. Island Life Challenges: Living on an island can present unique challenges. Whether homesickness, adjusting to the climate, or finding your way around the island, this group offers a space to openly share your thoughts and emotions while remaining respectful of the island’s culture and customs.
  4. Peer Support: Connect with fellow medical students facing similar experiences. Sharing your journey with peers can foster a sense of belonging and provide a valuable support network.
  5. Self-Care and Well-being: It’s essential to prioritize your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. We’ll explore self-care strategies that work within the context of island life and your demanding academic schedule.
